Recipe: Super Easy PlayDough

Recipe: Super Easy PlayDough

PlayDough. Not my favourite activity for a 3 year old, it gets in everything, it smells and it’s expensive.

Every trip to Kmart she begs me for some playdough. I always say no. But I gave in a couple of weeks ago and she has played with it daily. But it just has a horrid smell, so after googling I found that I can make my own in my thermomix, sadly I didn’t have all the ingredients until I saw this recipe on another fellow Thermomix users Facebook page.

This version requires no cream of tartar and no cooking. Just mix, knead and play! Winning!

Recipe originally from Thermomixperiment.

Super Easy PlayDough

  • Servings: 1
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Print

400gm plain flour
200gm salt
50gm oil (olive or vegetable)
250gm water
Food colouring of choice

  1. Place all ingredients into your Thermomix bowl and mix on speed 7 until well combined
  2. Knead for 3 mins
  3. Roll into a ball and play!

You can leave out the food colouring and divide the dough into 4 balls, then knead in the colouring by hand. You could also add glitter

**Store your dough in an air tight container for up to 3 months

It took me all of 5 mins to make each batch, I have tweaked the recipe to what I did as the original recipe was quite wet. The next batch I make, I will add glitter just to jazz it up a little.

Myla is one happy little play dough lover! Even my older girls loved playing with this homemade version. No more smelly store bought play dough for us. What I love most is that it uses simple ingredients that you would normally have in your kitchen! And because it’s made with simple kitchen ingredients, theres no need to worry if your child puts it int heir mouth.
